At Downingbury farm, our philosophy is simple:
Where possible, produce is locally sourced,
If not then local then British.
We only sell foreign produce when we cannot get British produce.
We support British Farming.
That's why we source our produce from the following producers.
Pembury Porkers
At Downinbury Farm, our meat is supplied from Pembury Porkers, a popular local butcher. Led by Tim Lear, a born and bred Pembury man, Pembury Porkers is still located in the parish of Pembury today and his pigs, who live a good life in pens, provide excellent pork for customers. We also stock carefully and locally sourced meat by Tim himself, including Chicken, Lamb, Beef and locally shot game. Venison sausages have proved very popular, as has the partridge, rabbit and pheasant.
We have been stocking Pembury Porkers for 4 years now, and are proud to be the prime retail outlet of this excellent quality meat.
The Downingbury Farm shop is a great place to stock up on all sorts of fresh produce from the farm as well as a wide selection of carefully chosen local food and drink products from across the area. The shop has expanded greatly in recent years and now sells fruit, vegetables, meat and fish, dairy, preserves, cakes, chocolate, wine and ale, and an extensive deli range. The wide variety of products has made Downingbury Farm a popular shop to visit for many necessities.
As the nights draw in earlier, and the days get colder, it once again is that time of year when we look forward to Christmas. Aside from out Christmas themed stock in the shop, we once more will be selling Christmas trees and delivering around the local area. These are locally grown and sustainable Nordmann Firs, renowned for their non-dropping needles, so you can be safe in the knowledge you'll be helping build the future of Christmas Trees while you enjoy one in your own front room!
